Sevilla confirm two additional preseason friendlies

Sevilla have added two more fixtures to their summer schedule as the club ramps up preparations for the new season. The Sevilla preseason friendlies will include matches against Juventud Torremolinos CF and AD Ceuta FC at the Estadio Jesús Navas inside the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios training complex.

Both games are scheduled to be played behind closed doors, with no public access to the stands as the club prioritizes controlled conditions for training and tactical work. Kickoff times are provisionally set for 21:00 local time, but club officials have said that high summer temperatures could force adjustments to those start times.

Match venue and logistics set at Jesús Navas Stadium

The two friendlies will be staged on Sevilla’s practice pitch at Estadio Jesús Navas, the stadium embedded in the club’s training base in Seville. Using the training ground allows the club to manage player recovery, travel and security more closely than at a larger public stadium.

Playing at the José Ramón Cisneros Palacios facility also gives Sevilla’s coaching staff access to club medical, analytical and conditioning resources between sessions. Organizers note that the closed-door format will facilitate intense tactical drills and controlled substitutions without the usual matchday variables.

July 11 opener against Juventud Torremolinos

Sevilla’s first of the two newly announced friendlies comes on July 11 against Juventud Torremolinos, the Málaga-based side that has recently competed in the Primera Federación. The matchup offers a chance to evaluate squad depth against a team with recent cup experience and a competitive regional profile.

The two clubs have met in official competition before; their last competitive meeting occurred in the 2022–23 Copa del Rey when Sevilla recorded a 3-0 away victory. That encounter remains a useful benchmark for Sevilla’s coaching staff as they measure tactical cohesion and finishing during this stage of preparation.

July 26 fixture with AD Ceuta

The second of the announced friendlies is scheduled for July 26 and will feature AD Ceuta, who returned to the Segunda División and posted a commendable 11th-place finish following promotion. Facing a team that has adapted well to life in the second tier will provide Sevilla with a different set of challenges than the earlier test.

Sevilla and Ceuta last crossed paths during a summer meeting in 2023, when the Andalusian side prevailed 5-2 in Montecastillo. That prior friendly demonstrated Sevilla’s capacity to generate attacking volume, and the upcoming match offers a chance to replicate offensive patterns while testing defensive resilience.

Sevilla’s broader preseason calendar

With the two additions, Sevilla’s summer program now includes five confirmed fixtures: KS Cracovia on July 19, Juventud Torremolinos on July 11, Córdoba CF on July 23, AD Ceuta on July 26, and Bayer Leverkusen on August 8. The mix combines domestic opponents and international opposition to accelerate match sharpness ahead of competitive duties.

Club management has framed the schedule to balance tactical work, fitness building and commercial commitments, while keeping sight of the medical team’s recovery windows. The variety of opponents is designed to give the coaching staff different competitive environments in which to trial formations and assess player readiness.

Coaching objectives and squad evaluation under Luis García Plaza

Head coach Luis García Plaza will use the Sevilla preseason friendlies to evaluate the squad’s tactical adherence, player fitness and the integration of any new signings or academy graduates. These closed-door matches allow the staff to run multiple tactical versions and give targeted minutes to fringe players without the pressure of a public crowd.

Match minutes in July and early August will also be important for conditioning and injury management as the season approaches. The coaching staff is expected to rotate heavily across the five summer games to measure each player’s physical response and readiness for competitive fixtures.

Tactical themes and what supporters should watch for

Across the preseason program, observers will be watching how Sevilla shape their defensive compactness, midfield link play and attacking transitions under match conditions. The fixtures against Torremolinos and Ceuta in particular should reveal how quickly Sevilla can impose tempo and maintain control against teams that play with different rhythms and defensive setups.

Individual storylines to follow include the distribution of minutes among established starters, the performance of young prospects pushing for first-team opportunities, and the effectiveness of set-piece routines that often decide pre-season contests. Fitness levels and recovery between games will also be key indicators for the coaching and medical teams.

Sevilla’s announcement confirms that both friendlies are scheduled to take place at Estadio Jesús Navas with initial start times of 21:00 local time, though those may be adjusted if the club deems it necessary due to summer heat. The addition of Juventud Torremolinos and AD Ceuta completes a compact yet varied summer slate designed to prepare the squad for the demands ahead.
