SC Kiyovu forward Fidali Uwiyaremye has received his maiden senior call-up to the Rwanda national team following a standout campaign in the BK Pro League.
The 24-man roster named for upcoming international friendlies against Comoros and Tanzania includes the striker after a season of notable goal returns and consistent performances for Kiyovu.
Uwiyaremye described the selection as a major honour and signalled his intent to use the opportunity to push for a permanent place in the national setup.

Uwiyaremye named in 24-man Rwanda squad

The Rwanda Football Federation selected Uwiyaremye among 24 players summoned for two preparatory friendlies scheduled against Comoros and Tanzania.
The inclusion marks the first time the SC Kiyovu forward has been invited to join the senior national team setup, an acknowledgement of his form over the domestic campaign.
Coaching staff have indicated the friendlies are intended to test depth across attacking positions and to assess emerging domestic talents under international conditions.

Season performances that secured the call-up

Uwiyaremye arrived at the national team reckoning after a season in which he finished with 11 league goals and more than 15 goal involvements across all competitions.
His role as SC Kiyovu’s primary forward combined finishing ability with an increasing contribution to build-up play and off-the-ball movement.
Observers and club staff have credited his consistency, work rate and clinical moments in the box as decisive factors in persuading national selectors to hand him an opportunity.

Player reaction and professional objectives

On receiving the news, Uwiyaremye framed the selection as the result of sustained effort and a prompt to raise his standards further.
He said the call-up was an honour and emphasised a step-by-step approach, underlining that securing a place in the final matchday XI would require continued dedication and strong performances in training.
The forward also expressed eagerness to absorb the international environment and to learn from more experienced national players while contributing whenever called upon.

Squad context and competition for forward positions

Rwanda’s coaching team has assembled the squad to evaluate tactical options and to sharpen attacking combinations ahead of upcoming qualifiers and regional competitions.
Uwiyaremye will join a forward line where established internationals and other in-form domestic strikers are competing for limited spots, making the friendlies a key audition.
Coaches will be looking for players who can press effectively, link midfield to attack, and convert chances in tight international matches, attributes that earned Uwiyaremye his initial call.

Implications for SC Kiyovu and player development

Uwiyaremye’s selection is likely to be viewed by SC Kiyovu as both reward for the club’s development program and proof of the team’s ability to produce national-level talent.
A national call-up can increase a player’s profile domestically and beyond, potentially attracting interest from clubs seeking young forwards with proven scoring records.
Kiyovu’s coaching staff have said they expect the forward to return from national duty with added experience that could benefit the club during the remainder of the season.

What the friendlies offer to emerging players

International friendlies provide a low-risk environment for coaches to test player chemistry and to introduce newcomers to international tempo and travel demands.
For emerging players like Uwiyaremye, such matches are an opportunity to showcase adaptability to different tactical setups and to stake a claim for future competitive fixtures.
Performances in these fixtures often inform selection decisions for continental qualifiers and tournaments, making each minute on the pitch valuable for a newcomer’s prospects.

Beyond the immediate opportunity, Uwiyaremye’s call-up underscores a broader trend of domestic league performers earning national recognition, reinforcing the BK Pro League’s role as a talent pipeline.
If he capitalises on the chance in national training camps and the friendlies, Uwiyaremye could move from a promising domestic striker to a recurring option for Rwanda’s forward group.
His progression will be monitored closely by club and country supporters alike as the national team seeks to blend experienced campaigners with rising domestic talents.

The coming weeks will reveal how Uwiyaremye adapts to the international environment and whether he can translate club form into contributions on the national stage.
Regardless of playing time in the scheduled friendlies, the call-up marks a significant career milestone and offers a platform from which he can continue to build his reputation.
