Real Sociedad probe free agent Daichi Kamada as summer interest mounts

Real Sociedad have probed free agent Daichi Kamada, reports say, while Villarreal and Fiorentina monitor the Japan attacker ahead of the summer transfer window.

Daichi Kamada is said to be on Real Sociedad’s radar as the Spanish side explores adding an experienced, versatile attacker during the summer transfer window.
According to Italian reporter Matteo Moretto, speaking on Radio MARCA, the Basque club has made initial enquiries about Kamada’s willingness to move to LaLiga and the wage the player might demand.

Real Sociedad make contact over Kamada

The club’s approach, as described by Moretto, was exploratory rather than an offer, focused on two key points: whether Kamada would consider Spain as his next destination and what salary package he would require.
Real Sociedad are understood to view Kamada as a low-risk free-agent option who could add creativity and experience to their forward line without a transfer fee.

Reported salary demands could be the obstacle

Those close to the discussions have flagged wages as the main potential stumbling block in any deal for Kamada.
Although a free agent, Kamada has typically operated on substantial earnings at his previous clubs, which would force interested suitors to balance financial prudence with the immediate upgrade he could provide on the pitch.

Kamada’s form with Japan this month

Kamada has arrived at the summer window with momentum after contributing decisively for the Japan national team in recent fixtures.
He scored in Japan’s 4-0 victory over Tunisia and played a role in the 2-2 draw with the Netherlands, underscoring his capacity to influence high-profile international matches and attracting further interest from European clubs.

Career path and versatility across top leagues

Kamada’s résumé includes spells in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt, a Serie A stint with Lazio, and most recently a season in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, from which he has departed as a free agent.
Now approaching his 30th birthday in August, he would bring to LaLiga a mix of experience in central attacking midfield and the ability to operate on either flank, along with a proven scoring and chance-creation record at club and international level.

How Kamada could fit into Real Sociedad’s plans

Tactically, Kamada’s movement, technical control and knack for late runs into the box would give Real Sociedad additional attacking flexibility.
He could complement players who occupy wide and central attacking positions, providing a link between midfield and the front line and offering set-piece quality and a finishing threat from the edge of the area.

Other clubs monitoring the situation

Moretto’s report names Villarreal and Fiorentina among several clubs also keeping tabs on Kamada as they weigh the opportunity to sign a seasoned attacker without paying a transfer fee.
Interest from multiple suitors is expected, given Kamada’s recent international form and his experience across Europe’s top divisions, so any concrete approach could spark a short but competitive negotiation window.

Negotiation dynamics and what to expect next

Because Kamada is out of contract, the negotiation will center on personal terms rather than a transfer fee, which speeds up potential deals but can raise salary costs that clubs must manage within their budgets.
Real Sociedad would likely need to present a package that balances competitive wages, performance incentives and a clear role in the squad to displace rivals in pursuit of the player.

While the initial contacts reported are exploratory, summer situations for free agents often crystallize quickly once a player signals a preferred destination.
If Kamada prioritizes regular playing time and a new challenge in LaLiga, Real Sociedad could move to formalise an offer; conversely, strong proposals from clubs like Villarreal or Fiorentina could alter the market dynamics.

Daichi Kamada’s decision will also be shaped by non-financial factors, including the prospect of European competition, the manager’s plans for him, and where he sees the best fit to extend his career at the top level.
At 30, he is at a stage where both short-term impact and longer-term stability matter, and his next club will need to present a convincing sporting project.

Reports to date come from Matteo Moretto via Radio MARCA and should be treated as an early-stage development in what is likely to become a competitive summer for the player.
Clubs and agents often test the market before formal negotiations, so follow-up announcements are possible as the transfer window progresses and national team commitments conclude.

Whether Real Sociedad ultimately convert an initial inquiry into a contract offer will depend on how closely their valuation of Kamada aligns with his financial expectations and career priorities.
If a compromise on wages can be found, Kamada would represent a relatively low-risk signing who could immediately bolster attacking options for LaLiga competition.

For now, the story remains in the reporting stage, with multiple European clubs circling and the Japan international continuing to attract attention through his recent international performances.
The coming weeks should clarify whether Real Sociedad escalate their interest into a formal proposal or step back in the face of competing offers and salary demands.
