The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will stage a high-profile RFEF calendar draw on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 20:00 CEST in Madrid to publish the official fixtures for nine top domestic competitions. The macrosorteo, to be held at Plaza Selección with operational activity at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas, will set dates for men’s, women’s and futsal leagues ahead of the 2025–26 season. Clubs, broadcasters and supporters will learn the order of fixtures that will shape the domestic calendar and highlight the season’s marquee encounters.

RFEF to reveal nine competition schedules in a single event

The RFEF calendar draw will disclose the official calendars for LALIGA EA SPORTS, LALIGA HYPERMOTION, Liga F Moeve and both tiers of Primera Federación. It will also include Segunda Federación, Liga Prime Futsal, Primera División Iberdrola de Fútbol Sala and Segunda División de Fútbol Sala. Bringing nine competitions into one consolidated presentation is intended to give clubs and stakeholders a single moment to prepare logistics, travel and broadcast planning for the year ahead.

Organizers say the macrosorteo format allows the Federation to coordinate overlaps between competitions and reduce fixture congestion for clubs involved across multiple formats. Officials will announce not only the matchdays but also key dates and highlighted fixtures that matter for fans, sponsors and television partners. The consolidated approach underscores the RFEF’s aim to present a unified domestic calendar across men’s, women’s and futsal competitions.

High-profile fixtures: Clásicos, city derbies and the Galician showdown

The draw will fix the dates for some of the season’s most anticipated matchups, including the Clásicos and major city derbies. Madrid derbies, Seville clashes and Barcelona fixtures are all set to be scheduled and will appear on the official lists issued following the event. One notable return on the calendar will be the Galician derby, which resumes after an eight-year absence from the top-flight fixture list.

These decisions carry significance beyond bragging rights: timing of such fixtures affects travel arrangements, policing and broadcast peaks. Leagues typically attempt to spread marquee matches across the season to maintain competitive balance and maximize television audiences. The RFEF will therefore aim to align those priorities with club requests and broader competition integrity considerations.

Kick-off weekends and start dates for the major leagues

According to the timetable to be confirmed at the draw, the first matchday of LALIGA EA SPORTS is scheduled for the weekend of August 15, 2026, though clubs with a heavier contingent of international players could be allowed to begin on the weekend of August 22, 2026. Liga F Moeve is slated to start the weekend of August 30, 2026, setting the women’s top flight on a slightly later track to account for international commitments and tournament schedules. These kickoff windows give federations and clubs a framework to finalize preseason plans and player availability.

Staggered starts are common when domestic competitions must accommodate international breaks and continental tournaments. The Federation is balancing player welfare and calendar integrity by allowing certain clubs flexibility depending on their number of internationals. The exact match lists and any exceptions will be published immediately after the macrosorteo, enabling clubs to confirm travel and training plans.

RFEF General Assembly to review the season and vote on measures

Earlier on the same day, at 12:00 CEST, the RFEF will convene its Ordinary General Assembly in the Luis Aragonés hall at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas. The assembly will include a formal balance of the concluded season as presented by representatives across the sport’s various bodies and will run through an agenda that includes multiple votes on federation governance and upcoming measures. Delegates are expected to debate administrative, regulatory and competition-related proposals that could shape the Federation’s actions in the coming months.

The assembly provides a governance forum where member associations, clubs and other stakeholders can influence policy. Voting items may cover operational matters, financial reports and sport-specific regulations, with outcomes potentially affecting scheduling, disciplinary processes and competition management. The proximity of the assembly and the macrosorteo underscores the Federation’s intention to coordinate administrative decisions with the practical demands of the forthcoming season.

Venue logistics and the format of the macrosorteo

Plaza Selección in Madrid will host the evening macrosorteo, while the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas will serve as the operational center where fixtures are formalized and broadcast feeds originate. The dual-venue arrangement separates the public-facing spectacle from the administrative execution, allowing the Federation to manage media production and accreditation more efficiently. Event organizers have prepared to accommodate club delegates, league officials and representatives from broadcasters and commercial partners.

The draw format will follow standard procedures for league scheduling, with draw mechanics designed to respect constraints such as territorial derbies, fixture sequencing and stadium availability. The RFEF has previously used similar macrosorteo formats to ensure transparency and fairness in fixture distribution. Finalized calendars will be distributed to clubs and published through official channels once all checks are complete.

Implications for clubs, broadcasters and supporters

Clubs will use the information from the RFEF calendar draw to finalize travel, accommodation and ticketing logistics for the season. For teams competing in European competitions or with large numbers of internationals, the fixture list will be critical to squad rotation and preseason preparation. Broadcasters and commercial partners will lock in programming schedules and advertising commitments based on the revealed marquee matchdates and derbies.

Supporters will gain clarity on when important matches will take place, allowing them to plan attendance and travel for high-demand fixtures. Local authorities and police forces often coordinate resources around derby dates and Clásicos, so the calendar enables municipal planning as well. The Federation’s published schedule therefore acts as the backbone for a wide array of operational decisions across Spanish football.

The timing of the draw and the assembly on the same day gives the RFEF an opportunity to align governance decisions with sports scheduling, but it also compresses a significant amount of administrative and competitive information into a single 24-hour window. Clubs and other stakeholders will need to process and act on that information quickly.

As the RFEF calendar draw concludes and official schedules are distributed, clubs, broadcasters and fans will shift focus toward preparation for the new season. The fixtures announced at Plaza Selección and ratified at the Ciudad del Fútbol will set the tempo for domestic competition and determine when the season’s most consequential matches will be contested.
