Lan Kwai Fong Prepares for FIFA World Cup 2026 with Six-Week Fan Carnival

Lan Kwai Fong will screen all 104 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026 from June 11 – July 19, hosting outdoor screens, fan zones and nightlife in Central.

Lan Kwai Fong, Central’s famed nightlife district, has announced plans to screen every match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, transforming the area into a multi-week fan carnival. The tournament, running June 11 to July 19, 2026, will be shown across outdoor plazas and inside participating venues, with organizers expecting large turnouts regardless of kickoff times. The initiative brings together bars, restaurants and the official broadcaster Now TV for a continuous slate of match-day programming and themed activations.

Festival Setup Will Cover Streets and Plazas

More than 20 bars and restaurants in the Lan Kwai Fong precinct will participate in the summer program, offering large outdoor screens, decorated fan zones and dedicated viewing areas. Public plazas will host the biggest screens while individual venues will run their own match-day promotions and themed décor to draw supporters. Organizers say the visible presence of multiple screens and photo spots aims to recreate a stadium atmosphere across the entertainment district.

Official Broadcaster Now TV Partners on Programming

The six-week event is staged in partnership with Now TV, which will provide live broadcast feeds and coordinated scheduling for all 104 matches. The collaboration allows synchronized showings on multiple large-format screens and ensures matches are accessible at the outdoor fan zones. Now TV’s involvement also supports promotional programming and technical support for uninterrupted live coverage throughout the tournament.

Expectations High Despite Morning and Workday Kickoffs

Organizers and business owners are confident turnout will remain strong even when matches fall during Hong Kong morning hours or working days. Lan Kwai Fong Group chair Allan Zeman noted past tournaments demonstrate fan commitment to early-morning viewings and late-night gatherings. City nightlife, he said, has repeatedly shown the ability to adapt its hours and atmosphere to fit the global schedule when football’s biggest event arrives.

Local Businesses Plan Extended Hours and Match-Day Offers

Participating venues have prepared special menus, drink promotions and expanded staffing to accommodate larger crowds and staggered arrival times. Many restaurants are designing package deals for groups and offering reservations tailored to high-profile matches to ensure steady service. Organizers expect a mix of standing crowds at outdoor screens and seated patrons inside venues, prompting operators to coordinate bookings and outdoor capacity limits.

City and Business Coordination for Crowd Management

Lan Kwai Fong Group representatives say they are working with local authorities and venue operators to manage pedestrian flows and public safety during peak match times. The planned layout of fan zones and the deployment of multiple screens aim to disperse crowds across several viewing areas rather than concentrating fans in a single plaza. Business owners also plan to use signage and staff marshals to guide queues and maintain clear access along the district’s narrow lanes.

Economic Upside for Central’s Nightlife Sector

The World Cup activation is expected to deliver a significant boost to Central’s hospitality and retail sectors as both local and visiting fans seek match-day experiences. Operators anticipate higher table turnover on game days and increased demand for food, beverages and fan merchandise throughout the six-week period. Industry observers say such events can extend normal peak hours and generate incremental weekend-like revenues on weekdays when major matches are broadcast.

Lan Kwai Fong’s initiative to screen the entire FIFA World Cup 2026 schedule is designed to leverage the global appetite for live sport and to position the district as Hong Kong’s primary destination for communal viewing. With Now TV providing broadcast support and more than 20 venues engaged, the area intends to offer a continuous calendar of matches, themed decorations and fan activations from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
